Spring Break Staycation!
Spring Break is upon us here in Brookfield and surrounding areas which means many of us will be looking for things to do for ourselves and with our families. If you aren’t going on a Spring Break vacation, why not find some fun ways to have a staycation right here at home?
If you are looking for some fun outdoor activities you can find some great trails to hike right here in the suburbs! Salt Creek Trail spans nearly 27 miles from the Brookfield Zoo to Busse Woods Forest Preserve with multiple parking points along the way. For more information about this local trail visit: http://www.traillink.com/trail/salt-creek-trail-(il).aspx. The suburb of Palos also offers an extensive variety of trails for walking, biking and hiking! Take advantage of the spring weather and get outside to soak up some fresh air and sunshine!
Another fun staycation idea is to plan a tourist day in Chicago. Many of us don’t get go into the city as often as we’d like, so planning a tourist day would be a perfect way to visit some of your favorite Chicago attractions or ones that you’ve always wanted to! A day in Chicago will transport you temporarily to a new place! You can take advantage of the free Lincoln Park Zoo, extended hours at the Shedd Aquarium or walk the pier at Navy Pier for some family fun. Something fun to try would be a boat tour down the Chicago River where you will be educated on some of Chicago’s most famous buildings. I highly recommend this for anyone who has lived in Chicago but hasn’t absorbed much of it’s history. These tours can be accessed from Navy Pier! Other fun Chicago destinations include Millennium Park, home of the famous silver bean, taking advantage of the Magnificent Mile’s shopping and restaurants along Michigan Avenue or checking out one of the many clubs and bars the city has to offer. Remember a staycation is all about experiencing a vacation at home! Find some new places and try new things. Chicago has a lot to offer!
Of course, Brookfield has a lot to offer, too. The Brookfield Zoo always offers a day full of fun for the entire family and everyone here at Brennan is ready to help you relax with massage, facial or even combo spa day! The downtown Brookfield area is home to many local shops, restaurants and bars. One could spend an entire day exploring right here at home! Remember a staycation may also include spending day at home, relaxing in the yard! Take advantage of any time you may have off from work or school to relax at home or in the city! Just remember, you don’t have to travel far for a spring break vacation! A staycation could prove to be just as nice!
