A business owners thankful perspective on holiday sales!
Black Friday, Small Business Saturday & Cyber Monday is a little over the top. We all know this. We even criticize ourselves and anyone who participates in these sales as being selfish and greedy, especially the day after giving thanks. So sure at a glance the concept is hasty but as a business owner there is a twist that we can be thankful for.
As a business owner the holiday sales play a big role in the year to come. Not only does the volume of spending enhance the business for the coming year but this translate to work flow stability for my staff. This means busy shifts and dependable future income for them. For this I am thankful.
Any business owner knows good employees leave if they are not full filled and busy. It takes a lot of time & energy to build a team and I do not want this to fall apart because work flow is low.
There are many components that go into building a busy year for my staff and self. We need to have monthly features, we need to offer deals, we need to host events, we need to participate in outreach, we need to work with the Chamber of Commerce and the village of Brookfield, we need to support our community, we need to do fundraisers, we need to make donations & we need to participate in all holiday trends from Black Friday to Mothers Day to Back to School Sales. When all these pieces are put together then business is good.
So until I had a staff that depended on me, I to was critical of the holiday spending craze. Over the years my perspective has completely changed. I see it as another piece to my year to provide for my business and team. If my team can feel satisfied then that only makes us stronger and better at what we do.
If you have decided to shop at Brennan Massage & Spa this season then you can feel good too knowing that you helped support at least one of my 16 employees and for that we are thankful.
Happy Holidays to all.
