Spa Outreach and Fundraising
Every year I try to engage Brennan Massage and Spa with an outreach experience and an opportunity to fundraise for an organization. This past year we have spent time volunteering massage therapy sessions at the Hinsdale Wellness House. The Wellness House is a not for profit organization. It provides healing services for anyone living with cancer. Services range from exercise and nutrition to yoga and massage therapy, group therapy, and more. All services are free.
Once a month we have been able to send an employee to the Wellness House to donate a few hours of their time doing massage therapy. The experience, needless to say, has been grounding.
Many times being a massage therapist can become a day to day job. Feeling good after a massage becomes second nature and we don’t acknowledge the power it has on a client. For a client this opportunity to relax and feel good is very emotional. The sense of relief and joy they may have from a little massage is much greater then we may have imagined.
Having the opportunity to volunteer with the intent of bringing relief to people living with and fighting cancer reminds us that the benefits of massage therapy go beyond soothing a tight muscle.
In conjunction with our volunteer work at the Wellness House we will also be hosting a Smash Cancer Fundraiser at Brennan Massage & Spa on Sunday, July 29th from 4pm-8pm. We will be offering mini massages and foot rubs for $40 a person. 100% of these proceeds will be donated to the Wellness House to support the services they provide. We still have a few openings! Our donation will be made in the name of Stan Patek, a client who is missed.
